is a popular task that many users choose to partake in. Deciding to create a group should be done by taking a good amount of time and should be a thought out process. Facebook does not allow a user to change the name of the group, so make sure the title is spelled correctly. Furthermore, ensure the group is appropriate to be seen to the public and does not offend or threaten any person.
Establishing Group InformationTo professionalize any group page, some basic information must be posted. This is the first step in making the group seem welcoming to the Facebook community. The group’s name, description and latest news can appear on the information section. Place information on the page that will help retain members and attract new people to the group.
A group can be posted in either a global network, for anyone to join, or a specifically designated network that only the creator is a member of. For example, creating a group for a college club may be open to only students of the particular college network. Create a short description of the group in the next box. Stick to the most important aspects of the group and detail out any mission the group hopes to achieve. Classify the group into a category that describes what it is about.
Fill in the contact boxes with any material that allows members to easily stay in touch with the group. Include information such as an office location, an e-mail address and a physical address, if applicable.
Group Customization TechniquesStep 2 of the creation process allows the creator to customize the group page to their specific preferences. The creator can upload photos and set one to be the profile photo for the group picture. Simply follow the directions on the page to do this. The image to be the profile picture needs to be on the computers hard drive.
Add a website address associated with the group if possible in the website field. Next, choose whether or not optional content should be displayed. This option allows the creator to pick who may post media on the group and designates the group as open, closed or secret. Click “Save” to store the information that has been selected.
Read on Facebook and The Job WorldWhen looking for work, Facebook can be both a help and an obstruction. Either way, Facebook is a commonly used tool when searching the job market.Inviting Members to the GroupSending out invitations is the final step in the group creation process. Use the box to the right to select from a list of friends to invite. Once a friend is invited, they will receive a group invitation they may accept or deny. If they accept the invitation and post it as a story on their profile, others can join the group faster. People may search for the group by using the Facebook blue bar if it is not listed as “Secret.”
Typing a short message to an invitee prior to sending the invitation to them helps in adding a more human atmosphere to the group. Doing so also allows the creator to explain in a sentence or two the point of the group before they decide whether or not to join.
Remember to take time when creating a Facebook group so it looks as professional as possible. Choose only information to be placed on the group page that anyone invited to the group will be okay viewing. A Facebook group is a tool that can help keep people in contact more than simple wall posts. Use the group wisely and safely.
